Series Creation

Creating a racing series allows you to track championship standings across multiple events. This guide walks you through the complete series creation process, from initial setup to adding events and configuring scoring rules.

Before You Start

Before creating a series, make sure you have:

  • Created your organization in Adrenaline
  • Decided on a series name and duration (e.g., "2024 Summer Championship")
  • Determined which classes will be included
  • Chosen a points table structure
  • Planned your event schedule (dates and locations)

Creating a Series

Step-by-Step: Create a New Series

  1. Navigate to Organization Admin from the main menu
  2. Click on Series in the sidebar
  3. Click the Create Series button
  4. Enter a Series Name (e.g., "2024 Summer Motocross Championship")
  5. Optionally select a Class Template to define which classes are included
  6. Optionally set a Default Points Table for all classes
  7. Click Create

Series Name

Choose a clear, descriptive name that includes the year and type of racing. Good examples:

  • "2024 Summer Motocross Championship"
  • "Fall 2024 Supercross Series"
  • "2024 Youth Development Series"
  • "Pro National Championship 2024"

Class Template (Optional)

If you've created class templates at the organization level, you can select one here. This automatically defines which classes are included in the series and their constraints.

Tip: If you're running the same series structure year after year, create a class template once and reuse it for each season.

Default Points Table (Optional)

Set a default points table that applies to all classes in the series. You can override this for individual classes later if needed.

Common Points Tables

  • MX Standard: 25, 22, 20, 18, 16, 15, 14, 13... down to 1
  • AMA Pro: 26, 23, 21, 19, 17, 16, 15, 14... down to 1
  • Simple: 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1

Adding Events to Your Series

After creating the series, you need to add events. You have two options:

Option 1: Add Existing Events

If you've already created events in your organization, you can add them to the series.

  1. Open the series page
  2. Click Add Event
  3. Select one or more events from the list
  4. Click Add Events

Note: Only events from your organization that aren't already in another series are eligible.

Option 2: Create New Events

You can create new events directly from the series page, and they'll automatically be added to the series.

  1. Open the series page
  2. Click Add Event → Create New Event
  3. Fill out the event creation form (name, date, location, classes)
  4. The new event is automatically added to the series

Event Order

Events are automatically ordered by their start date. The first event chronologically is Round 1, the second is Round 2, and so on.

Configuring Series Settings

After adding events, Adrenaline automatically detects which classes appear across multiple events. You can then configure settings for each series class.

Editing a Series Class

  1. Open the series page
  2. Scroll to Series Classes
  3. Click the menu icon (⋮) next to the class
  4. Click Edit
  5. Configure the following settings:

Min Points

Minimum points required to be eligible for the championship. Racers below this threshold are excluded from final standings.

Example: Set to 50 to exclude racers who only attended one event.

Min Rounds

Minimum number of events a racer must attend to be eligible.

Example: Set to 4 in a 6-event series to require 67% participation.

Drop Worst

Number of worst results to drop from a racer's total. Allows racers to have a bad day without ruining their championship.

Example: Set to 1 in a 6-event series so one bad result doesn't count.

Tie Breakers

Rules for breaking ties when racers have equal points. Add multiple tie breakers in priority order.

Common: "Most wins", "Most 2nd place finishes", "Best finish at final event"

Series Purse

Prize money awarded to top finishers in the overall championship (separate from individual event purses).

Example: $5,000 / $3,000 / $2,000 for top 3 in final standings.

Publishing Your Series

Once your series is configured, make it public so racers can view standings and register for events.

What to Communicate

  • Series Schedule: All event dates and locations
  • Points Table: How points are awarded
  • Eligibility Rules: Min points, min rounds, drop worst
  • Tie Breakers: How ties will be resolved
  • Series Purse: Championship prize money (if applicable)
  • Registration Deadlines: When to register for each event

Series Page URL

Share your series page URL with racers so they can view standings and register. The URL format is:

adrenaline.mx/series/[series-id]

Best Practices

  • Plan Ahead: Create your series and add all events before the season starts so racers can plan their schedules.
  • Lock Settings Early: Finalize min points, min rounds, and drop worst before Round 1. Changing mid-season confuses racers.
  • Consistent Classes: Use the same class names across all events. Adrenaline handles minor variations, but consistency is best.
  • Test Points Calculation: After Round 1, verify that points are calculating correctly before announcing standings.
  • Communicate Changes: If you must change series settings mid-season, announce it clearly to all racers.
  • Use Class Templates: If you run the same series annually, create a class template to save time next year.
  • Set Realistic Min Rounds: Don't require 100% attendance. Life happens. 60-75% is reasonable.
  • Drop Worst Sparingly: Dropping 1 result in a 6+ event series is common. More than that makes individual events feel less important.

Common Workflows

Workflow: Creating a 6-Event Series

  1. Create the series with a name and default points table
  2. Create 6 events (or add existing ones)
  3. Wait for Adrenaline to detect recurring classes
  4. Configure each series class (min rounds: 4, drop worst: 1)
  5. Add tie breakers ("Most wins", "Most 2nd place finishes")
  6. Publish the series page and share with racers

Workflow: Adding a Last-Minute Event

  1. Create the new event with the same classes as other events
  2. Add the event to the series
  3. Adrenaline automatically includes it in points calculations
  4. Update min rounds if needed (e.g., from 4 to 5 in a now-7-event series)
  5. Announce the change to racers

Workflow: Copying Last Year's Series

  1. If you used a class template last year, select the same one
  2. Create a new series with a new name (e.g., "2025 Summer Championship")
  3. Create new events for the new season
  4. Copy the same series class settings (min points, min rounds, drop worst, tie breakers)
  5. Update the series purse if prize money changed

Troubleshooting

Classes Aren't Showing Up

If a class doesn't appear in the series classes list:

  • Verify the class appears in at least 2 events
  • Check that class names are similar (Adrenaline handles minor variations)
  • Refresh the series page

Can't Add an Event

If an event doesn't appear in the "Add Event" list:

  • Verify the event belongs to your organization
  • Check if the event is already in another series
  • Events can only be in one series at a time

Points Aren't Calculating

If points aren't showing up:

  • Verify the event has been marked as "finished"
  • Check that racers have finishing positions recorded
  • Ensure the class has a points table (either default or custom)
  • Refresh the series page
